Our Vision is to provide excellence in veteran support whilst being acknowledged as the premier social venue in the Wangaratta region where members, guests and visitors will enjoy a quality social experience in a safe and inclusive environment.
Veteran support at Wangaratta RSL has a wide range of services and resources to support veterans, their families, and the broader community. We are committed to the welfare of veterans and their families ensuring that the best possible assistance is provided.
Many people are unaware of the services they can access or are entitled to. Appointments can be made or a phone call to start the process of how we can assist you.
Veteran Support volunteers provide well-being support to veterans and their families and may undertake a number of roles including:
Most veteran support roles require volunteers to undergo a National Police Check for Aged Care. Some Veterans Support roles such as Pensions Officers and Welfare Officers also require volunteers to undergo specialized accredited training to enable them to undertake their duties.
At Wangaratta RSL, we fully support interested volunteers to become accredited.
Please call to make an appointment with our Welfare Officer – Colleen Davis.
Appointments available Mondays and Tuesdays.
Open Wednesdays for enquiries.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Wangaratta RSL.
We welcome new people to join our dedicated volunteer team at Wangaratta.
Volunteer roles at Wangaratta RSL mainly focus on fundraising through selling badges just before ANZAC DAY and selling poppies prior to REMEMBRANCE DAY.
Sellers generally follow a roster and “set up shop” outside prominent local businesses throughout our town. Our Appeals Officer may also require assistance to assemble, pack and deliver merchandise trays to local schools and businesses before, and then collect the proceeds and stock balances directly after our Appeals.
For ANZAC DAY and REMEMBRANCE DAY our Volunteers may be called on to assist at our Annual Commemoration Services and Wangaratta RSL has several extremely popular ANZAC Ceremonies designed just for local Primary, Secondary and Special schools as we see educating younger generations as a vital task in supporting our Community. Additionally to this end our Memorabilia Officer is always looking to add to our collection and maintain display to a high standard.
